BEIRUT TEMPORARY LANDSCAPES
Our design proposal seeks to mitigate the brutal displacement that has deeply impacted the majority of the Lebanese population, particularly in Beirut's southern District: Dahye, as a result of the Lebanese Israeli conflict.
These communities will require a transitional space—a "cocoon"—to facilitate their gradual reintegration and recovery whilst their homes are getting rebuilt.
We propose a series of refuge landscapes, designed to provide a temporary space for these displaced individuals and families.
Temporary Landscapes consist of redesigned open spaces that provide both shelter and recreation. These spaces include movable, adaptive structures crafted from accessible materials and repurposed elements such as rubble to create a lively landscape.

“How can a space metamoprh into a refuge landscape, while conserving the right to revert back to its original state”
THE PLATFORM
In a manner to ameliorate the situation, Beirut Temporary Landscapes Platform proposes a series of Landscape and Urban interventions that could possibly present as post-war narratives to the Social/ Geo-spatial conundrum.
Amidst the war a vision, of what the future could hold for our people in a post-war scenario.

This figure-ground map of Beirut highlights the open spaces, shown in white. We propose examining these spaces further as potential sites for temporary interventions to support the displaced community.
